INFRARED I: NEW VISIONS FROM THE QUEER UNDERGROUND
The Seattle Gay & Lesbian Film Festival: Northwest Film Forum, Seattle
October 21, 2010
Curated by Malic Amalya
From the depths of the underground emerge new films that defy standards of narrative cinema and heternormativity. Embracing radical politics and documenting the freaky beauty of queer culture, these shorts range from amateur videos to stunning Super 8 and 16mm celluloid. You will see Bacchanalian transubstantiation (Dinner Dance of Death), attempts to smash the system (COPS), fat transfag perversion (Short Shorts), and mythological creatures (Full of Pride). Plus, a special Northwest premiere of Doug Ischar’s Come Lantano, which examines the extraordinary relationship between opera singer Maria Callas and controversial Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini.
